Marsha Ward founded American Night Writers Association in 1986; was mentor, coach, and facilitator of the group for many years; then served as the first President and twice as Secretary-Treasurer. She is serving her second two-year term in the office of Membership Secretary. In addition to ANWA, Marsha is a member of Western Writers of America and Romance Writers of America, and serves on the Board of Desert Rose Chapter, RWA.

Marsha is an award-winning freelance writer and editor who has published over 900 articles, columns, poems, and short stories. She has been a writer and editor for four different LDS newspapers. Well-known as a mentor, Marsha also enjoys working with other writers as a creative consultant, editor, workshop presenter, contest judge, and teacher. She taught creative writing at Washington Irving School and newspaper writing at Carmel Charter School. Marsha also created and maintains this web site.

In 2002 her nostalgic poem, "My Mother's Bureau Drawer," won two First Place Prizes: one in the Annual Poetry Contest sponsored by Superstition Mountain Scribes, and one in the Literature Competition sponsored by Arizona American Mothers, Inc. In 2003, the poem took First Place in the Alice Abel Literature Competition in the Poetry category. That contest is sponsored by the national American Mothers, Inc. organization.

She now lives in the central mountains of Arizona in the small village of Christopher Creek: tall pine trees, abundant birds, small animals and elk, and no traffic lights, but also no gas station and no broadband Internet! Ah well, those are minor annoyances! She enjoys family gatherings with her children and grandchildren, and traveling.

Marsha has published a chapbook of short stories and poetry, two romantic Western adventure novels, and written sections in two nonfiction books for writers. Her current projects include setting up readings and book signings for her novels, (autographed copies are available through this web page). She is also working on the third novel of the Owen Family series, and a novel set in Central Arizona in the 1890s. Please visit her website at marshaward.com and her forum here.
