Presidency MessageA New Era for ANWAby Theresa SneedHave you noticed? Have you felt it too? ANWA is entering a new era and it is exciting! As of July 7, 2003, we have eighty-seven active members, which brings us thirteen away from the one hundred-member mark. I expect that in a few years we will look back on this moment with fondness because I absolutely see ANWA's numbers doubling. "No," you say? Can't be done? Hmmm. Yes it can, and it will. Here's why: We are instruments in the Lord's hands. He recognizes (and I believe even orchestrated) our existence as a support group for women who have a desire to write and make a difference through their words. We are a unique group. The number of those who desire to write in our communities is far greater than the eighty-seven members we have now reflects. As a Presidency, we hope to strengthen our members and encourage them to reach out to those around them who would benefit from our group. We are dedicated to ANWA and to its purpose. Accomplishments such as our liaison with Scottsdale Barnes and Noble are only the beginning. Our communities need to know that we exist, and we will find ways to spread the word about who we are and what we have to offer. Your written word is a powerful tool for inspiring, uplifting, strengthening, comforting, educating, and converting. As LDS women authors, we reach the hearts and minds of people all over the world. What can you do? Bring a friend to ANWA next time. Carry those ANWA business cards you're supposed to have in your purse and hand them out when the Spirit directs. Talk about ANWA to everyone who will listen. You never knowthe person you introduce to ANWA may be responsible for a great literary work that might never have been written except for your encouragement. One day, when our time on earth has passed and all things are made known, you will be thanked by many whose lives you have personally touched.
